History

In 2016, the following steps were taken to establish the Cyber-Physical Systems Society of Iran:

  1. A few meetings held with interested people in the emerging field of cyber-physical systems from the University of Tehran, Sharif University of Technology, and the Academy of Sciences, which raised the need to founding an association to disseminate the field and enrich the community. Other universities and research centers also joined the meeting, including Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran University of Science and Technology, Khajeh-Nasir University of Technology, Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences, etc. Regarding the world-wide vast application areas influenced by IoT and CPS (e.g. industries like Automotive, Aerospace, Smart Cities, etc.),  they concluded that the establishment of this association in the country is a major need.
  2. A committee called the Temporary Follow-up Committee was selected by the attendees to follow-up and coordinate the matter:

  3. The Temporary Committee was responsible for officially initiate the required steps for founding a society at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, and establishing a Board of Founders. Finally, the establishment of the society was accepted with the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology at April, 2018. The Board of Founders held the first annual public meeting of the newly established Cyber-Physical Systems Society of Iran (CPSSI) by inviting the interested people nation-wide, on December 26, 2018, in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Tehran. Sixty attendees of the meeting elected the Board of Directors through written votes.
  4. The Board of Directors decided on the main activities, policies, and responsibilities of CPSSI with regard to the CPSSI statute, as confirmed of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
